GREENVILLE, S.C. - Furman women's tennis player Laura Gioia was named the Southern Conference Player of the Month, the league announced today.

Gioia, a junior from Tampa, Fla., posted an undefeated record in April. Gioia was 9-0 in singles and 8-0 in doubles playing at No.1.

Gioia led Furman to a regular season title and a tournament championship as well as a birth in the NCAA Tournament. Gioia earned first team all-conference honors in singles and doubles along with being named Southern Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

The Paladins will begin NCAA Regional play as they travel to Clemson, S.C. to take on Michigan in the first round on Friday, May 9. Match time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. ET.
