Ryan Soares has only played 11 games in a George Mason uniform but he's already made an impact, leading the team in batting with a .455 average. He's also managed to earn a conference honor as he was named the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week.

Soares batted .750 last week, going 12 of 16 at the plate with three doubles, seven runs and seven RBI as Mason went 3-1, including a sweep of a doubleheader against VCU. Soares had multiple hits in three of the four games and he also stole a pair of bases. Soares shared the award with William & Mary's Mike Sheridan, who batted .706 with a pair of homers.

Mason (4-7) plays at Longwood on Tuesday before hosting the Lancers on Thursday. The Patriots also have a three-game series with Georgia State this weekend, with home games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
