Women Sweep, Men Defeat American In Swimming and Diving Quad Meet

FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason women's swimming and diving team completed a trifecta on Saturday with meet victories over American, Army, and Old Dominion, while the men picked up a win over American, in a quad meet held at the Jim McKay Natatorium.

Mason's women notched the three victories by defeating American 211-82, edging Colonial Athletic Association foe Old Dominion by a 161-139 margin and recording a resounding 221-79 win against Army. The men's squad defeated AU by a 200-91 score, while falling 204-95 to ODU and 215-85 to the Black Knights.

Senior Sarah Bizer won three events while sophomore Caitlin Impink picked up two individual victories to pace the Patriot women, while junior Eric Knight was the Patriots' lone event-winner on the day. Bizer took first place in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 23.67 and 52.53, respectively, as well as a 58.43 winning time in the 100-yard butterfly. Impink won the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.55) and 200-yard butterfly (2:09.32) for the Patriots.

Mason swept the women's diving portion of the meet, with wins in the 1-meter board by sophomore Charlotte Edwards (257.00) and a victory by freshman Lisa Faulkner in the 3-meter event with a score of 267.15. In the relay events, the women picked up victories in the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.25) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:36.55). The men's squad of sophomore Ryan David, Knight, sophomore Tad Ogren and freshman Spencer Roe garnered first place with a 1:36.86 time in the 200 medley relay.
 

 

The Patriots are back in action next Saturday when they host George Washington at 1 p.m.
