Complete Results

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The George Mason women's track and field team finished fifth while sweeping the individual awards, while the men's squad finished sixth as the 2008 Colonial Athletic Association Track & Field Championships came to a close Saturday evening. The host Tribe of William & Mary won the women's competition, while the UNC Wilmington men garnered first place in the final team rankings.

Juniors Murielle Ahoure and Ryann Hendricks were recognized for their outstanding performance as they were named the Women's Track Performer and Field Performer of the Meet, respectively. Ahoure won both the 100-meter (11.64) and 200-meter (23.58) dash events, setting a meet record in the former and matching a stadium record in the latter. Both met NCAA East Regional qualifying standards.

Hendricks also took home a pair of first-place finishes in the long jump (5.96m) and triple jump (12.48m). Her triple jump distance matched a meet record and was an NCAA regional qualifier.

Mason picked up two second-place finishes on the women's side, with Tiara Swindell's 400-meter time of 55.80 along with the 4x400 relay team of Ahoure, Swindell, Marie Fields and Crystal Lawrence finished in 3.44.16. The other relay squad in the 4x100 event, composed of Fields, Swindell, Hendricks and Ahoure, finished third with a 46.14 time. All were ECAC championship qualifying times. In field events, Jennifer Bailey rounded out the Patriot women's top-three finishers with a distance of 41.85m in the discus throw.

On the men's side, two Patriots finished first, as Michael Pachella ran to a winning time of 1:52.87 in the 800-meter, while Dwight Webley jumped 7.26m to capture the long jump championship. Webley finished second and qualified for the NCAA regional in the triple jump (15.11m), while the 4x400 relay team of Marcus Wyche, Pachella, Sam Horn and MacGregor Lennarz finished second as well with a time of 3:18.99. Mason's other relay team, the 4x100 squad of Wyche, Nate Harris, William Phillips and Justin Nelson earned a third-place finish, running the event in 42.57.

Ahoure and Hendricks, along with Pachella and Webley, each earned a berth in the NCAA East Regional Championship by virtue of their first-place finishes at the conference meet.

The Patriots will next compete in the Penn Relays, held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa., from April 24 through April 26.
