Track and Field Takes Part in Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - The George Mason men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Philadelphia to take part in the Penn Relays this past weekend and came away with a number of outstanding performances.

Four women's performances met ECAC qualifying standards. Murielle Ahoure ran the 100-meter dash in 11.80, while the 4x400 relay of Ahoure, Tiara Swindell, Marie Fields, and Crystal Lawrence also met the qualifying mark with a time of 3:46.74. In field events, Ryann Hendricks met the ECAC qualifier with a 5.83-meter jump in the long jump. Another 4x400 relay, composed of Swindell, Fields, Latasha Rivers and Crystal Lawrence met the qualifier with a 3:46.06 time.

On the men's side, Dwight Webley won the long jump with a season-best distance of 7.50m, which met both the NCAA regional and IC4A qualifiers. Mason's 4x800 relay of Anthony LaMastro, Sam Horn, Ryan Murphy and Michael Pachella also met the IC4A standard with a time of 7:33.27. In the 5000-meter run, John Crain ran the fastest time by a Patriot this season, finshing in 14:46.85.
 

 

The Patriots will next host the Mason Outdoor Invitational next Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. at George Mason Stadium.
