FAIRFAX, Va. - Junior opposite hitter Kyle Gramit (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) was named the EIVA Tait Division Player of the Week for his outstanding effort during the Patriots' three matches this past week. Gramit averaged 5.42 kills per game and 6.42 points per game as Mason posted a 2-1 record to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Gramit led the Patriots in kills in all three matches during the week. In Monday's 3-0 win over Springfield College, Gramit tallied a double-double with 12 kills, 10 digs and seven blocks. He followed up that performance with 23 kills and six digs as Mason nearly upset No. 9 IPFW on the road, leading 2-1 before falling in five games. In the Patriots' final match of the week, Gramit set career-highs with 30 kills and a .625 hitting percentage as Mason defeated No. 14 Loyola (Ill.) in four games.

For the season, Gramit ranks second in the EIVA in kills per game with an average of 5.12. He is third in blocks per game with an average of 1.65.

The twelfth-ranked Patriots play their first conference match of the season this Friday, traveling to Loretto, Pa. to take on St. Francis (Pa.). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
