Bartlett Adds another Award; Named Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week

March 18, 2008

BALTIMORE, Md. - Leading George Mason to its second win over a Top 20 team this season earned midfielder Megan Bartlett Nike/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week honors for Division I women's lacrosse. The award comes a day after Bartlett received the Colonial Athletic Association Co-Player of the Week award.

Bartlett, a senior, scored a career-high five goals and added an assist in a 19-15 Mason road win over Boston University, who entered the game ranked 18th in the IWLCA Poll and 16th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. She also tied her career high with four draw controls in the game. In the Patriots' 15-5 win over Iona College on Thursday, Bartlett tallied two goals and a caused turnover.

It was a banner week for the George Mason women's lacrosse team, which has started the season with its best record in the history of the program after six games with a 5-1 mark, in the process equaling a school record that has stood since 1996 with its fourth consecutive win.

Mason's 19-15 win on Saturday marked the second time this season that Mason has scored 19 goals in a game. The Patriots also found the back of the net 19 times in a win over George Washington on March 5 at George Mason Stadium. The school record for goals scored in a game is 23, set on April 9, 2006 against Old Dominion.

In the latest set of polls, George Mason is ranked 13th by the IWLCA and 18th by Inside Lacrosse. After playing the past two games on the road, the Patriots return home to George Mason Stadium on Saturday, March 22 to take on St. Joseph's at 1 p.m.
