RICHMOND, Va. - After a sparkling week in which she led the George Mason softball team to three victories, sophomore Becky Anderson was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week, as announced Monday afternoon by the conference office. The award is Anderson's third conference weekly honor, after picking up rookie and player of the week honors in her freshman season.

Anderson improved her overall record to 11-11 on the season with three wins last week, each coming in a complete game performance. After being saddled with the extra-innings loss in the first game of a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's, Anderson responded with a one-hit shutout against the Mountaineers, as she allowed just two baserunners en route to a 4-0 Mason win.

In the series opener against UNC Wilmington on Saturday, Anderson scattered three hits while striking out five to lead Mason to a 4-0 win. Finally, she allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out four Seahawks in a 5-4 series-clinching win on Sunday afternoon.

The Oakton, Va., native compiled a 0.30 ERA on the week, allowing a total of 11 hits and one earned run in 23.2 innings of work. She tallied 16 strikeouts to just six walks. Offensively, Anderson scored twice and hit a double this week as well.

She is the second Mason player to garner a weekly honor this season, as classmate Ashli Breau was tabbed the CAA Player of the Week on March 12.

Anderson and the Patriots will be back in action at home Wednesday afternoon, hosting local foe Georgetown for a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
