Softball Entertains Georgetown in Wednesday Doubleheader

April 15, 2008

The George Mason softball team will break up its road swing with a home doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon against local rival Georgetown (18-28). Admission to the games, which will begin at 3 p.m. at George Mason Field, is free.

Mason is coming off a successful 3-2 week in which it picked up its first Colonial Athletic Association series win of the season, taking two of three games at UNC Wilmington. The Patriots are led by reigning CAA Pitcher of the Week Becky Anderson, as the sophomore has compiled a 1.74 ERA and 11-11 overall record in 145 innings pitched. Offensively, Mason is powered by the CAA's top hitter in sophomore Ashli Breau, who is batting .447 with 38 RBIs and a school-record nine home runs this season.

After the midweek matchup against the Hoyas, the Patriots hit the road again for a weekend series at CAA foe Delaware. Mason will then begin its final homestand on Tuesday, April 22, when it hosts North Carolina Central at 3 p.m.
