Fairfax, Va. The George Mason women's tennis team was defeated Sunday afternoon by Albany who improved their overall record to 10-2. In the first home match of the 2008 campaign, the Lady Netter fell by an overall score of 7-0.

Freshman Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger led Mason in the top two positions on Sunday, but each fell in three sets to their opponent from Albany. Gray was beaten by Aimee Kern, 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 and Berlinger was downed by Susan Ma, 4-6, 6-2, 10-7. Gray and Berlinger also fell to Kern and Ma in doubles play, 8-2. Mason's final two doubles teams played hard also, but eventually fell to tough Albany opponents. Julia Moscato and Alicia Van Zandt were on the losing end of an 8-4 score against Laine Mackey and Amanda Hall. Aryn Christman and Stephanie Longueira competed in the third doubles position and were beaten by Kim Weltman and Charlotte Tatler of Albany, 8-2.

The Lady Netters will be in action again on Thursday as they look to improve on their 2-6 overall record at UMBC. They will return home on Saturday to face George Washington University at the Robinson Field Tennis Courts.
