Women's Tennis Defeats Loyola for Second Straight Win

March 30, 2008

The Patriots women's tennis team earned a decisive 6-1 victory against Loyola today at the Robinson Tennis courts on campus. Mason swept the doubles matches and lost only one singles match for their second straight win.

Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger both had no trouble with either of their matches today. Gray didn't lose a game in her top singles match and Berlinger lost only one, winning 6-0, 6-1. The two paired up to defeat the Greyhounds top doubles team, 8-1.

Senior captain Julie Moscato took care of her singles opponent at No. 4 winning in two sets, 6-1, 6-2. In doubles action she was paired with Alicia Van Zandt at No. 2 and they won 8-4.

The other three singles matches went three sets. Mason's Christman defeated her opponent after losing her opening set 6-1 she responded with a 6-1 victory in the second set. Meredith Cutchin defeated Loyola's Cassle in the third tiebreaker set for the other Patriot point.

Next opponent for the Patriots is Howard on April 1.
