Paul Johnson And Jon Barry Finish Fourth At 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl Alma Mater

April 30, 2008

Greensboro, Ga. - Georgia Tech head football coach Paul Johnson and former Tech and NBA standout Jon Barry finished fourth with a five-under 67 at the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl Alma Mater at Reynolds Plantation.

The University of South Carolina's Steve Spurrier and Sterling Sharpe carded a 12-under-par 60 to earn a five-stroke victory and the $100,000 first-place scholarship donation.

The team from UCLA and last year's winners, Virginia Tech, tied for second with a seven-under 65.

"Coach Spurrier and Sterling Sharpe really brought their 'A' games today in winning the championship among such a great field of competitors," said Gary Stokan, Chick-fil-A Bowl president. "Our congratulations go out to the team from South Carolina and our thanks to all the teams who came out today to enjoy a great day on the golf course, some good competition and a lot of laughs."

Johnson scored a hole-in-one in Monday's best-ball competition with an ace on the par three, 130-yard 15th hole. He used a pitching wedge for his second career hole-in-one.
