Tech Track & Field Travels to Tiger Track Classic this Weekend

April 3, 2008

ATLANTA - The Georgia Tech men's and women's track and field teams will compete at the Tiger Track Classic Friday-Saturday at the Hutsell-Rosen Track on the Auburn University Campus in Auburn, Ala.

"We look forward to our trip to Auburn this weekend," men's head coach Grover Hinsdale said. "We have attended this meet for many years and have had some great success there. This being our last competition prior to the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships makes this an especially important meet. I know this team will compete well."

The Yellow Jackets return to action after a rain-shortened Yellow Jacket Invitational last weekend. The men's and women's teams each achieved three NCAA Region qualifying marks led by E.C. Gibbs personal-best time of 3:47.03 in the men's 1500-meter run and Kimery Hern's mark of 188 feet, 5 inches in the women's hammer throw.

After two outdoor meets the men's squad has had six athletes qualify for the NCAA East Region Championships and the women's team has three.

Live Results for this weekends meet will be provided at www.deltatiming.com.

The Jackets will take a week off after the conclusion of the Tiger Track Classic as they prepare to host the 2007 ACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at George C. Griffin Track from April 17-19.
