Tonight's Game: GW (4-6, 0-0) aims to extend its seven-game home winning streak when it hosts Saint Louis (9-5, 0-0) in the A-10 opener for both teams.

• GW is 4-2 in A-10 openers under Karl Hobbs (3-0 at home, 1-2 on the road).

• GW has been idle for the last 11 days following a 93-57 loss to Alabama Dec. 29 in Tuscaloosa. The Colonials are concluding a stretch where they have played just two games in the last 27 days.

•Saint Louis, also idle for the last 11 days, last played on Dec. 29 when they posted a 66-57 victory over IUPUI (Indiana U.-Purdue U. at Indianapolis) at home.

• Tonight's contest marks GW's fifth home game of the season where it has won seven straight dating back to last season and has a 306-117 (.723) record in the 33-year-old Smith Center.

• Tonight's game is the first of five regular-season games to be telecast on CSTV.

• GW is without starting point guard Travis King, who is sitting out the season with a knee injury.

• GW has won 50 of its last 65 regular-season games and 29 of its last 34 A-10 games.

A Closer Look at Saint Louis: The Billikens open the A-10 season Thursday with a 9-5 record under first-year coach Rick Majerus. Majerus is in his 21st season as a head coach and Saint Louis is his fourth stop. He came to SLU after spending 15 seasons (1989-04) at Utah where he led the Utes to 10 NCAA Tournament appearances including 1998 when they advanced to the national final before losing to Kentucky. One of his players from that team, Alex Jensen, currently serves as the Billikens' senior graduate manager. Like GW, SLU has been idle for 11 days and last played on Dec. 29, a 66-57 victory over IUPUI at the Scottrade Center in downtown St. Louis. Saint Louis has two players averaging double figure points, led by junior G Kevin Lisch's 14.3 ppg. Junior G Tommie Liddell (11.6 ppg) and senior F/G Luke Meyer (5.2 rpg) are the other leading Billikens. For the season, SLU is shooting 46.2 percent from the field, averages 59.8 points a game and is outrebounding its opponents by less than a carom a game. SLU leads the A-10 in scoring defense allowing just 57.9 points and opponents are shooting 43 percent from the floor. Four of SLU's probable starters are left-handed.

Next Game: GW has a five-day break before traveling to New York to face Fordham on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7:00 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast live on 3WT 107.7 FM, 1500 AM and 820 AM. Live video and audio streaming of the game will be available on www.GWsports.com.
