Final Stats

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC -- George Washington's Eddie Newland was the low Colonial with a three-round 228 at the third-annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate men's golf tournament, hosted by Francis Marion University on Hilton Head Island. The final round of the two-day, 54-hole event was played Tuesday on the par 72, 6,828-yard Wexford Plantation course. The Colonials finished 11th in the 15-team field.

GW's Brendan Barrack was the next-lowest Colonial after firing a 230 (76-75-79), which put him in a tie for 35th place. Elon University (890) won the tournament by one stroke over runner-up Furman (891).

Individual medalist Jimmy Lytle (69-69-72--210) of Elon rallied over the final 18 holes to claim a nine-stroke victory over Kennesaw State's Oliver West (70-76-73--219). Elon carded a final-round 300 team score to finish at 890, while Furman totalled 305 on Tuesday and finished at 891. Furman had led after each of the first two rounds.

Following their annual spring break trip, the Colonials next host the 10th Annual GW Invitational March 21-22, at Bethany Beach, DE. The 54-hole event takes place at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club.
