Mustafa Gencsoy Named A-10 Men's Tennis Performer of the Week

WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington University senior Mustafa Gencsoy (Istanbul, Turkey/Ayazaga Isik) was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Performer of the Week for his play in the Colonials' three A-10 matches this past weekend, the league announced on Monday.

Gencsoy, a three-time A-10 All Conference player, won all three of his singles matches this weekend, playing from the No. 1 position. On Friday, the senior won against Xavier, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. Versus Dayton on Saturday night, Gencsoy won in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Finally, on Sunday, at Temple, he cruised, again in straight sets, winning 6-1, 6-1.

Gencsoy also posted a 2-1 mark in doubles competition, playing from the No. 1 slot. The senior improved his overall singles record to 17-4, 4-0 in A-10 play, and 10-1 in dual matches. He has led the Colonials to an 8-3 overall record (4-0 A-10), including a current six-match winning streak.

George Washington will host Binghamton Sunday, Mar. 2, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Campus in Washington, DC. GW is 5-0 at home this season.
