PHILADELPHIA, PA - The No. 13/12 George Washington women's basketball team travels to Philadelphia, PA, and Saint Joseph's Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse this weekend for the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship. The second-seeded Colonials face No. 10-seed Rhode Island in a quarterfinal game Saturday at 4:00 pm.

No. 13/12 GW (24-5) makes its 26th consecutive appearance in the A-10 Championship and seeks its fifth title overall and first since 2003. The Colonials are 31-21 all-time in their 25 trips to the A-10 tournament, including a 6-4 mark as the No. 2 seed.

GW won its last four regular-season games to earn a share of its seventh consecutive A-10 title along with Temple, which earned the tournament's top seed by virtue of its head-to-head victory against GW. The Colonials led the conference in both scoring offense (67.2 ppg) and scoring defense (52.8) in going 12-2 in league play.

The Colonials are led by a quartet of All-Atlantic 10 selections, highlighted by conference Player of the Year and All-America candidate Kimberly Beck. The fifth player in program history to receive the league's top honor, Beck led the A-10 in assists for the fourth straight season to become just the 11th player in NCAA Division I history to accomplish the feat. Beck is joined in the backcourt by A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year and three-time All-Conference honoree Sarah-Jo Lawrence.

Two-time first team All-Atlantic 10 selection Jessica Adair is the centerpiece of the Colonials' frontcourt. GW's leading scorer at 15.6 points per game, Adair enters the A-10 Championship 17 points shy of becoming the program's 25th career 1,000-point scorer and third player to reach the mark this season. Adair is joined on the front line by two-time A-10 All-Defensive Team forward Whitney Allen, who recorded back-to-back double-doubles to finish the regular season, and leading rebounder Antelia Parrish.

Sunday's semifinal contests will be televised live on CSTV at 12:00 and 2:30 pm, while Monday's championship game will air on ESPN2 at 5:00 pm.
