Gymnastics Finishes Fourth at #18 NC State Quad Meet

RALEIGH, NC - The George Washington gymnastics team took fourth in a quad meet at #18 NC State Friday night with a total score of 192.550. The fifth-ranked LSU Tigers won the team title with a 196.500. The Wolfpack followed with a 194.850, while the North Carolina Tar Heels took third with 193.500 points.

GW started the night on beam and recorded a 47.700 on the event behind four hit routines. Sophomore Lindsay Tom led off the night with a 9.675. Freshman all-arounder Leslie Delima was third in the lineup and shared the team-high with Tom. Junior Kristen Simpson was second on the team with a 9.650 and sophomore Christa Devine was fourth with a 9.525.

The Colonials were next on floor and behind three performances of 9.750 or better were able to record a 48.275 total. Senior McKenzie Parrack and sophomore Megan Quinn tied for the team-high with a 9.775, while Delima was second on the team with a 9.750. Seniors Carolyn Marckesano and Gillian Coleman also scored with a 9.600 and 9.375, respectively.

Vault was GW's best event on the night as they recorded a 48.475. Junior Erin Quigg led the way with a 9.750, while Simpson took second GW with a 9.725. Parrack took third on the team with a 9.700. Also scoring for the Colonials were Marckesano (9.675) and Delima (9.625).

 

 

Devine and Parrack led GW on bars in the final rotation with a 9.750 and 9.700, in that order. Coleman took third on the team with a 9.650 and was followed by Quinn's 9.525. Delima concluded her night with a 9.475 en route to a 38.525 all-around score. The Colonials earned a 48.100 on bars for the night.

GW returns home for Senior Night against Towson on Tuesday, March 18, at 7:00 pm at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center. It will be the final home competition for seniors Gillian Coleman, Carolyn Marckesano and McKenzie Parrack.
