Gymnastics Travels To #18 NC State along with UNC and #5 LSU Friday Night

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington gymnastics travels to Raleigh, NC for the second time this season to take on EAGL rivals #18 North Carolina State and North Carolina, as well as #5 LSU Friday, March 18, at 7:00 pm, in the Wolfpack's Reynolds Coliseum.

On Feb. 3, the Colonials finished third in a quad meet at NC State, falling to then #16 Auburn and the Wolfpack, while defeating Texas Woman's University. UNC defeated GW in the season-opner for both teams at the GW/Lindsey Ferris Invitational.
GW and LSU have only met head-to-head three times with the Tigers taking all three meetings. Ironically, the last time the teams met was exactly 15 years ago (March 14, 1993).
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE COLONIALS
GW took second of three schools at it's Inagural Pink Meet Sunday afternoon at Smith Center. The Colonials scored a season-high 48.350 on beam en route to a 192.650 total. Sophomore Megan Quinn tied a career-high with a 9.775 on beam, and posted the same score on floor to place second overall in both events. Junior Kristen Simpson continued her streak of great vaults with a 9.800, also placing her second on the apparatus.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOLFPACK
Leigha Hancock (39.350) and Kelsey Lee (39.175) hit career highs in the all-around as the Wolfpack scored a 195.075 in a victorious meet over Bowling Green and William & Mary. Hancock also won the beam, floor and all-around, while taylor Seaman won the vault and bars.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina traveled to Minnesota on March 7 and were defeated by the Gophers, 194.675-191.575. UNC was forced to compete with only five gymnasts on both bars and vault due to injuries. UNC is led by two-time EAGL Gymnast of the Week, Christine Nguyen, sophomore all-arounder Kara Wright and specialist Jennifer Valby.
LAST TIME OUT FOR THE TIGERS
The No. 5 ranked LSU gymnastics team crushed the Washington Huskies, 196.550- 195.175, Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers won each individual event on the night. Ashleigh Clare-Kearney placed second in the all-round scoring 39.200 after winning the vault (9.975) and bars (9.950). Kristi Esposito won beam with a 9.825 and Susan Jackson took the floor with a 9.975.
Up Next for GW: The Colonials return home for `Senior Night' Tuesday, March 18 to face the Towson Tigers at Charles E. Smith Athletic Center at 7:00 pm. Senior tri-captains Gillian Coleman, Carolyn Marckesano and McKenzie Parrack will all be competing in their final home meet at GW.
