Men's Rowing At Pac-10 Challenge

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Gonzaga University men's rowing team travels to California this weekend to partake in the Pac-10 Challenge presented by Windermere and hosted by Stanford University. The Pac-10 Challenge is held at Redwood Shores Lagoon in Redwood City, Calif. Redwood Shores Lagoon is considered the finest two lane `match race' venue in the world. The two-day regatta, which both the Zag Varsity 8+ and Novice 8+ will participate in, takes place on Saturday March 29 through Sunday March 30. The Bulldogs first race of the weekend is scheduled for 10:04 a.m. on Saturday as the Varsity 8+ races Oregon State University for the second weekend in a row. The Zags will then hit the water at 11:48 p.m. as the Novice 8+ faces off against UCLA. The Novice 8+ will row again at 3:24 p.m. against Orange Coast College. The final race on Saturday will pit Gonzaga's Varsity 8+ against Trinity College at 4:36 p.m. Gonzaga will wrap up its weekend at the challenge with two races on Sunday. The Zag Varsity 8+ will close out its racing with a head-to-head against UCLA at 9:56 a.m., while the Novice 8+ hits the water against Oregon State at 11:56 a.m. "The Pac-10 Challenge is always a great race," stated head coach Dan Gehn. "We are really excited to row against such strong competition. Trinity and Oregon State were ranked 12th and 19th, respectively, last season. OSU also finished 10th at the IRA National Championships a season ago. It should be a great weekend."
