Spokane, Wash.- - The Gonzaga University women's tennis team opened a three-match road trip with a 5-2 victory over host the University of Northern Colorado Friday in Greeley, Colo.

The Zags (3-6) headed into singles play with an 1-0 edge after earning the doubles point. GU picked up lead in doubles play with an 8-2 win by Clare Dodge and Danielle Farmer at No. 2. The Bears' (2-7) Tiffany Knop and Manuela Santos then posted an 8-5 victory over Emily Anderson and Aglaya Kokurina at No. 1 before the Bulldogs earned the doubles point with an 8-4 win by Sydney Lederhouse and Kristen MacWilliam at No.2 over Karen Groll and Hanna LaForest at No. 3

Northern Colorado knotted the score 1-1 in the opening of singles play when Knop posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dodge at No. 2. Gonzaga responded taking three straight matches to earn the victory. At No. 4, Rika Mehndiratta posted a straight-set, 6-3, 6-1, victory over Groll before Kokurina defeated Santos 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2. Anderson secured the Gonzaga victory with a three-set, 6-3, 1-6, 7-5, victory over Tabatha Knop at No. 1. UNC earned its final point at No. 5 as Lederhouse retired to Ciarvella 6-3, 2-0. The Zags' final point came at No. 6, as MacWilliam posted a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 (11) victory over Luiza Xavier.

The Bulldogs hit the courts again Saturday as they face Colorado Sate University at 2 p.m.
