Pittsburg, KS - #6 Grand Valley State used a strong pitching performance from Andre Benjamin and went on to claim a 4-2 victory over Winsconsin-Parkside Friday in Pittsburg, Kansas. GVSU, which will play a doubleheader Saturday versus UW-Parkside Saturday, improves to 8-1 on the year.

The Rangers scored a run in the top of the first and added another run in the tip of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. GVSU evened the score with two runs in the botoom of the fifth. 3B Brad Raj singled and when to third on a single by CF Pat Radde. Radde advanced to second on the throw to third. 2B Josh Hillyard singled in Raj and RF Derek Hinke reached on a fielder's choice that plated Radde. GVSU took the lead in the bottom of the sixth with two more runs. SS Justin Beal singled with one out and scored on a double by C Bobby Walmsley. Walmsley then scored on a single by 1B Cory Maguire. Benjamin yielded two runs on 10 hits and struck out seven in nine innings of work.
