Pittsburg, KS - #6 Grand Valley State swept a pair of games from Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at Pittsburg State. GVSU took a 10-2 decision in game one, followed by a 8-6 win over the Rangers in game two. GVSU is now 10-1 on the year and will play a single 9-inning game Sunday versus UW-Parkside at 11 a.m.

GVSU scored early and often in game one. The Lakers scored four in the bottom of the first, followed by single runs in the second and third, and two in both the fourth and fifth innings. UW-Parkside scored its only two runs in the top of the fifth.

Danny Richard picked up his second win of the year (2-0), yielding just two runs on three hits in six innings of work. Richard notched eight strikeouts. Brennen Glass pitched the seventh inning. RF Derek Hinke collected two hits and drove in three runs. Hinke tallied the Lakers' first home run of the year, a 2-run shot over the right field fence. Cory Maguire added a solo HR and a double, while Josh Hillyard notched two hits, drove in two runs and crossed home plate three times. Casey Robrahn tripled for GVSU.

In game two, GVSU scord a single run in the top of the first, but UW-Parkside took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth with two runs. GVSU answered with five runs in the top of the fifth and took a 7-2 lead with another run in the top of the sixth. The Rangers answered with four runs in the botoom of the sixth and had the bases loaded with two outs when Robrahn made a diving catch in LF to thwart the UWP rally. GVSU added an insurance run in the top of the seventh for the 8-6 win. Joe Jablonski picked up the win, yielding five runs on three hits with three strikeouts. David Bowman got the final six outs and earned the save. 3B Brad Raj homered and doubled, while Justin Beal drove in four runs on two hits. Beal drove in three runs with a bases-loaded triple. Josh Hillyard tallied two hits, including a triple, drove in one and scored three.
