May 3, 2008

Findlay, Ohio - The Grand Valley State baseball teams' twinbill against GLIAC rival Findlay Saturday (May 3) was call due to inclement weather. The two teams will resume action Sunday (May 4) with doubleheader at Swale Park beginning at 12:00 p.m.

The Oilers and Lakers began their first game late as the ground crew readied the field and Findlay jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first when Matt Wilson hit a homerun. Grand Valley State eventually claimed a 3-1 lead after a 3-run homer by Matt Nickels, but the clouds moved in on the field as the Oilers were coming to bat in the fourth inning. The umpires, who spotted lightning, then delayed the game for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes was up, the teams looked as though they were going to be able to finish the game but a strong rain storm ensued, followed by a steady drizzle which ultimately led to the cancellation
