The GVSU men's tennis team earned its second victory of the season with a 7-2 win over Southern Indiana on Friday in Indianapolis. The Lakers improve to 2-0 on the young season. Grand Valley State dropped just one singles and one doubles match on its way to the victory. GVSU will face Northern Kentucky on Saturday, also in Indianapolis.

In singles play, Tony Dang started things off with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 1 slot. Patrick Troy picked up a 6-3, 6-4 straight-set victory while Philipp Claus downed Ben Hamm in the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-4. Patryk Polus won his matchup over Dustin Thomas, 6-2, 6-1 while Alex Switzer was victorious, 6-1, 6-3. Renato Tamashiro was the lone Laker to fall, as he lost a three-set match to Nathan Sexton, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.

In doubles play, the tandem of Switzer and Matt Globerson improved its winning streak to five matches with an 8-3 victory in the No. 3 doubles slot. The duo is now 8-1 on the season, including tournament play. Tamashiro and Troy picked up a win by a count of 8-2 while Dang and Polus, playing in the top doubles slot, dropped a close 8-6 decision to Sexton and Christoph Burger.
