The GVSU men's tennis team picked up its second win in its trip to Indianapolis with a 9-0 blanking of Northern Kentucky. The Lakers improve to 3-0 on the year, with all matches being non-conference to this point. Grand Valley was in complete control of the match, as it earned all singles victories in straight sets. The Lakers will return to action Monday when they travel to Greencastle, Ind. to face DePauw.
Tony Dang got things started in the top singles slot with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Patrick Troy was victorious in the No. 3 singles position by a 6-2, 6-0 count. Philipp Claus remains undefeated as a Laker with a tough 6-4, 7-5 victory in the No. 4 singles position. Alex Switzer also earned a victory, defeating Josh Fudala, 6-2, 6-2. Dang, Troy, Claus, and Switzer are each riding a three-match singles winning streak. Other singles wins included Renato Tamashiro, who won by a 6-3, 6-3 count and Patryk Polus, who picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win.
The wins continued in doubles action as the duo of Switzer and Matt Globerson earned an 8-5 victory in the third doubles slot. The team has won six straight and is 9-1 on the year. Tamashiro and Troy found the win column with an 8-4 win while Dang and Polus were victorious, 9-7.
