The GVSU men's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win this weekend over Indianapolis. The win gets the Lakers to 4-1 on the season, while Indianapolis falls to 0-4. Grand Valley won four matches in singles and two in doubles on its way to the 6-3 victory. The Lakers will now prepare for their spring break trip, which will include five matches in Orlando, Fla.

Indianapolis got the better of the Lakers in the top two single slots. Renato Tamashiro, playing in the top singles slot for the first time this season, dropped his match to Jon Stastny, 6-4, 6-0. Patrick Troy, upgraded to the No. 2 singles position, was ousted 7-6 (7-5), 6-4. The Lakers rallied in the remaining singles matchups, going 4-0, with all victories coming in straight sets. Philipp Claus won 6-4, 6-4 and Patryk Polus picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Alex Switzer won in the No. 5 singles position, 6-4, 7-5 and Brock Plangger earned a 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory.

The Greyhounds also got the better of the Lakers in the top doubles position, as Stastny and J.D. Greenlee beat Troy and Tamashiro, 8-3. Plangger and Plus, playing in their first doubles match together, picked up an 8-6 win. Switzer and Matt Globerson got their 10th victory of the season with an 8-3 win in the No. 3 doubles slot.
