Allendale, Mich. - The Grand Valley State University men's tennis team has earned a national ranking for the first time in school history. After starting the season off with a 14-4 record, the Lakers were ranked No. 42 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on April 2. Philipp Claus has compiled a record of 15-2 to lead the squad, followed by Brock Plangger and his 10-2 mark. Their next match is Friday, April 4 against Wayne State.
GVSU has won its last three matches, as well as six of its last seven. The last two lossed that John Black's squad has suffered both came to ranked opponents, Ferris State and Rollins College. The GLIAC tournament gets underway on April 19.
