Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State stands on top of the latest standings for the NACDA Directors' Cup and the GLIAC President's Cup. The Lakers have won four straight Directors' Cup crowns and nine consecutive President Cup titles. GVSU is currently tied with Ferris State for the most overall GLIAC President titles with 14.
After recording three top-10 finishes during the winter sports season, Grand Valley State continued to sit atop the final winter U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup standings. The Lakers have a total of 719.25 points with 315.25 coming this winter. Grand Valley State's highest finish this winter was in men's indoor track and field, where it placed fourth. The Lakers also placed fifth in men's basketball, sixth in women's indoor track and field, 16th in women's swimming and 21st in men's swimming. GVSU is 134.75 points ahead of second place Minnesota State Mankato (584.50).
GVSU also increased its lead in the GLIAC President's Cup standings with four GLIAC Championships during the winter. The Lakers claimed titles in men's basketball, men's swimming & diving and men's indoor track & field and women's indoor track & field. Grand Valley State has scored 60 points in men's sports and 69 points one the women's side for a school total of 129.0. Ashland is second with 99.5 points, followed by Ferris State's 71.5.
The U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup is a Division II national all sports competition, while the GLIAC President's Cup is the all sports competition among GLIAC schools.
