Urbana, Ill. - After the first day of competition at the Illini Spring Classic, Grand Valley State's women's golf team is in eighth place with a team score of 331. Tracey Puckering is the top Laker, tying for ninth place overall with a score of 80. All 15 teams will shoot 36 holes tomorrow to decide the final standings.
Puckering shot a 37 through the first nine holes to help her to ninth place on day one. Ashley Smith placed well, too, coming in at a tie for 21st place with an 18-hole score of 82. Michelle Boogaard tied for 36th on day one, finishing the day with an 84, while Kristina Langton was right behind her with an 85, placing her 42nd. Caitlin Benett was the next Laker in the standings, tying for 50th overall with a score of 87.
