Findlay, Ohio - Grand Valley State opened with a 297, followed by a 307 to take a 16-shot lead going into the final 18 holes at the 2008 GLIAC Championship held at Sycamore Springs Golf Club in Findlay, Ohio. The Lakers' 36-hole total of 604 is followed by Ferris State (620) and Ashland (635). The final 18 holes will be played Monday (April 21).

GVSU has four of the top five and five of the top 10 in the individual standings. Caitlin Benett is in second place after shooting back-to-back 75's. Benett's 150 is just one shot back of Becky Hoffman's (Ferris State) 149. Ashley Smith carded an opening round 73, followed by a 78 (151) for third place, while Tracey Puckering is in fourth place after going 74-78 for a 152. Allie Tyler is in fifth after going 75-79 for a 154. Kristina Langton is tied for ninth after shooting a 158 (82-76).
