Indianapolis, Ind. - The Grand Valley State women's swimming & diving team finished second at the 2008 GLIAC Championships with a team score of 639 points. The Lakers qualified seven individuals and two relays for the 2008 NCAA DII Championships March 12-15 at the University of Missouri. The Lakers' second-place finish marked the fourth straight year that Grand Valley State has finished second at the GLIAC Championships.

Jenna Thayer highlight the final night of competition by winning the GLIAC Championship in the 200 butterfly. Thayer met the NCAA DII automatic qualifying mark and set a school-record with her time of 2:01.17. Erin Lynch finished seventh in a time of 2:13.52. Katie Lawrie met the NCAA B qualifying mark in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:47.35. Alison Sante finished fourth on the three-meter diving board with a score of 338.70, while Sara Moore was eighth (292.80). Sam Stump finished fourth in the breaststroke with a time of 2:29.17. Alison Scholz was fifth in the 100 free (53.99). GVSU closed the GLIAC Championships with an impressive swim in the 400 free relay. Allison Scholz, Ally Nagel, Alison VanKampen and Jenna Thayer set the school-record with a time of 3:35.00.
