The GVSU women's tennis team picked up a 6-3 win over Albion College on Saturday. The win improves GVSU to 22-5 on the season. The Lakers took two out of three doubles matches and four out of six in singles on the way to the win. Grand Valley will be in action again this weekend, as they travel to Indianapolis for matches against Drury, Rockhurst, and Indianapolis.

The Lakers jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles play, helped by the tandem of Audrey Koopsen and Katelyn Grashorn, who picked up an 8-5 win. In the No. 3 doubles slot, Chelsea Johnston and Darylann Trout earned an 8-6 victory. Jenna Killips and Emily Zellner fell in the top singles slot, 8-4.

In singles play, Koopsen was able to defeat Michelle Mulder in three sets, winning 6-0, 1-6, 6-2. Johnston was victorious in the No. 3 singles slot, 7-5, 6-2. Katelyn Grashorn found the win column against Mara Rendina, 6-4, 6-1 while Jackie Shipman gave the Lakers their sixth win of the day, also earning a 6-4, 6-1 victory. Killips fell in the top singles position, 7-5, 6-0, while Jaime Oppenlander was ousted in the No. 5 singles slot, 6-4, 6-3.
