Findlay, Ohio - Grand Valley State's 188.50 points were 81.50 ahead of second place en route to their ninth consecutive GLIAC Indoor Track and Field title. 10 different Lakers claimed points in the field events as they claimed the victory. The NCAA Championships will be in Mankato, Minn. on March 14 and 15.

Candice Wheat tooko third place in the 200-meter dash with a provisionally qualifying time of 25.34 seconds. In the 400, Kirsten Nozime took sixth with a time of 59.34 seconds and Katie Mandziara was in eighth with a final time of 59.77 seconds. Katherine McCarthy claimed the victory in the 800-meter run with an automatically qualifying time of 2:13.49. Katie Alfredson was just behind her, finishing fourth with a provisionally qualifying time of 2:17.12. Wheat also claimed second in the 55-meter hurdles with an automatic qualifying time of 8.00 seconds. Danielle Fonseca took sixth at 8.53, while Jen Tulpa was seventh at 8.58 and Ali Beach was eighth at 8.64 seconds.

In the distance events, Grand Valley performed well, as is par. Kelly Gibbons won the mile with a provisionally qualifying time of 5:04.68. Alfredson was second with a time of 5:06.08, also provisionally qualifying. Four runners scored in each the 3000-meter run and the 5000-meter run. In the 3k, it was Samantha Gordon (1st-10:14.28), Megan Maceratini (2nd-10:14.75), Lynsey Ardingo (4th-10:17.00) and Amy Kolin (5th-10:26.60). In the 5k, it was Maceratini (1st-17:40.35), Ardingo (4th-17:58.02), Kolin (5th-18:03.11) and Sarah Kulczycki (6th-18:28.24). GVSU also took fourth in the 4x400-meter relay and first in the distance medley relay.
 

 

The field events were a big source of points for the Lakers, as well. Stephanie Kurca took first in the triple jump with a distance of 35'9.25" and Tanisha Johnson was eighth at 34'1.25". The Lakers took the top three spots in the high jump with Heather VanderSlik winning at 5'5.25", Maegan Doyen coming in second at the same height, and Johnson placing third at 5'3.25". Dianna Noonan took first in the pole vault by clearing a height of 12'7.25" and Kellie Kieren and Ashley Smith tied for fifth at 11'1.50". In the weight throw, Mary Bogner placed third at 58'8.75" and Kathie Posa claimed seventh with a toss of 57'0.25".
