Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University senior Roy Hibbert (Adelphi, Md./Georgetown Prep) was one of five men's basketball players selected to the BIG EAST Conference's Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. It is the fifth time in the last seven weeks that Hibbert has been named to the league's weekly honor roll. The BIG EAST Conference's Preseason Player of the Year, Hibbert was been named the league's Player of the Week three times during his Hibbert led Georgetown to a pair of wins last week, posting a 68-58 win at Providence on President's Day and then aiding the team during a 73-53 home win over Cincinnati. The 7-2 center averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 blocks during the two games. Against Providence on February 18, he scored 18 points, grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and tied his career-high with six blocked shots. He followed that up with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists and five blocked shots during a 73-53 win over the Bearcats. Hibbert leads Georgetown in scoring and rebounding, averaging 13.2 points and 6.5 boards per game. He is also tops on the team in blocks, with 2.35 per game. He has connected on 60.3 percent of his field goals this season (132-of-219), a figure that ranks fourth in the BIG EAST and 13th nationally. Georgetown won for the ninth time in the last 11 games with its win over Cincinnati, improving to 22-4 overall and 12-3 in the BIG EAST, tied for first place in the league with Louisville. The Hoyas moved up to No. 11 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, and to No. 10 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches' poll. Georgetown plays its penultimate home game of the regular season on Wednesday, February 27, hosting St. John's at Verizon Center.
