Feb. 29, 2008

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 11-ranked Georgetown University men's basketball team travels to Bradley Center, in Milwaukee, Wis. on Saturday, March 1, to take on Marquette in a matchup between two BIG EAST Conference powerhouses. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. The game will be televised on CBS, with Clark Kellog and Mark Adams calling the action. Fans can tune in to Rich Chvotkin, who will be calling the game on Sports Talk 980 AM.

The Hoyas won for the tenth time in the last 12 games on Wednesday, beating St. John's, 64-52, to improve to 23-4 overall and 13-3 in the BIG EAST, tied for first place with Louisville and a game-and-a-half ahead of Connecticut and Notre Dame. Georgetown is ranked No. 11 in the country in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, and No. 10 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches' poll.

This will be the sixth meeting all-time between the Hoyas and the Golden Eagles. Georgetown leads the head-to-head series, 3-2, winning two-of-three games since Marquette joined the BIG EAST. The Hoyas are 1-1 on the road against the Golden Eagles, including a 57-51 loss at Bradley Center in the Hoyas' last trip in 2006. Senior center Roy Hibbert (Adelphi, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Hoyas to a 76-58 victory over Marquette last season at Verizon Center.

The Blue and Gray lead the BIG EAST in scoring defense overall with 57.1 points per game, and are tops in conference games only, allowing 59.4 points per game.

Sophomore forward DaJuan Summers (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) led two Hoyas in double-figures with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting, including 5-for-8 from three-point range, in a 64-52 win over St. John's on Wednesday. Hibbert added 17 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field and 7-for-8 from the foul line.
