WASHINGTON, D.C. - The No. 11-ranked Georgetown University men's basketball team hosts No. 12 Louisville at Verizon Center on Saturday, March 8, in a rematch of the BIG EAST Conference's top two teams. Tip-off is slated for noon and the game will be televised nationally on CBS, with Verne Lundquist calling the action and Bill Raftery providing color commentary. Fans can tune in to Rich Chvotkin, who will be calling the game on Sports Talk 980 AM. The Hoyas won for the 11th time in the last 13 games last Saturday, beating No. 21 Marquette, 70-68, to improve to 24-4 overall and 14-3 in the BIG EAST. GU is tied for first place with Saturday's opponent, Louisville, and a game ahead of Notre Dame. Georgetown is ranked No. 11 in the country in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, and No. 10 in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches' poll. This will be the eighth meeting all-time between the Hoyas and the Cardinals. Georgetown leads the head-to-head series, 4-3, splitting two games since Louisville joined the BIG EAST. The Hoyas are 1-0 at home against Louisville, winning 61-59 in 2000, the Cardinal's only trip to D.C. Senior center Roy Hibbert (Adelphi, Md./Georgetown Prep) scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in the Hoyas 59-51 loss to Louisville on February 9 at Freedom Hall earlier in the season. The Hoyas were ranked No. 1 in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage defense in the latest rankings, allowing opponents to shoot only 36.2 percent against them. GU also ranked No. 1 in scoring defense (allowing 57.5 points per game) and No. 2 in field goal percentage (48.2 percent). Hibbert and senior guard Jonathan Wallace (Harvest, Ala./Sparkman) each scored 20 points apiece in the Hoyas 70-68 overtime victory over Marquette on March 1. Hibbert shot 7-of-11 from the floor and 6-for-7 from the foul line and Wallace went 5-of-10 from the floor and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line to lead the Hoyas.
Sophomore forward DaJuan Summers (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) is second on the team with 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds.
