Sophomore Vincenzo Salina (Vandoeuvres, Switzerland/Institut Florimont) tied for 12th place overall and Georgetown posted its best round of the season in the second round as the Hoyas tied for sixth place at the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate, hosted by East Carolina University at the par 72, 7,102-yard Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, N.C. The Hoyas had been tied for eighth place after the first round on Friday, but the second round was cancelled on Saturday due to heavy rains and the tournament was completed with 18 holes on Sunday. St. John's shot a tournament-best 10-under par 278 in the final round and rallied back from an eight stroke deficit to top the 15-team field at four-under par 572. Newberry College placed second at six-over par 582, followed by Francis Marion (seven-over par 583), Liberty (eight-over par 584) and East Carolina (nine-over par 585). Georgetown and Winthrop University tied for sixth place at 10-over par 586. Salina, who was tied for eighth place after the first round, posted consecutive rounds of even-par 72 and tied for 12th place at even-par 144, six strokes off the pace of St. John's Keegan Bradley, who took medalist honors at six-under par 138. Junior Patrick Sherry (Brookeville, Md./Landon) fired a one-under par 71 in the second round - his best round of the season - and tied for 18th place at two-over par 146. Juniors Garrett Logan (Henderson, Nev./Bishop Gorman) and Tim Hager (Ivyland, Pa./Council Rock North) each bounced back after posting higher scores in the Friday round. Logan shot an even-par 72 in the second round and tied for 25th place at three-over par 147 and Hager also carded an even-par 72, tying for 35th place at five-over par 149. Senior David Praet (Oakland Township, Mich./Notre Dame Prep) shot a one-over par 73 in the second round and tied for 64th place at 10-over par 154. Georgetown is back in action on April 12-13, competing at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Country Club in Princeton, N.J. TEAM SCORES: 1. St. John's (294-278=572, -4); 2.
