Georgetown's Brendan Cannon Named ECAC Offensive Player of the Week

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University senior attack Brendan Cannon (Haverford, Pa./The Haverford School) was named the ECAC Lacrosse League's Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. He shared the award with Rutgers sophomore Justin Pennington.

The Hoyas improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the ECAC after posting a 13-7 league win over St. John's on Saturday at the Multi-Sport Field.

Cannon led the way for the Hoyas, scoring four goals and adding an assist. The ECAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Cannon scored two goals and tallied one assist in the first half as the Hoyas opened up a 7-3 lead and then added two more unassisted goals in the third quarter as the margin ballooned to 11-4.

It was the sixth time in his career that Cannon has scored at least four goals and it was the fourth game of his career with at least five points.

In 44 career games, Cannon has scored 55 goals and has 65 assists for 120 points. He is 12th all-time at Georgetown in scoring with 120 points and is tied for sixth all-time with 65 assists.

The Hoyas are ranked 12th in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association poll and No. 9 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse poll.

Georgetown plays its first road game of the season, traveling to play at No. 5 Syracuse. Face-off at the Carrier Dome is slated for 3:30 p.m. and the game will be shown live on Time-Warner Sports.
