Hoya Spring Soccer Week Four Recap

Washington, D.C. - On April 19, the Georgetown men's soccer team posted a 2-0 victory over and Old Dominion team that had made a trip to the NCAA Tournament each of the last seven seasons.

The Hoyas got out of the gate quickly in the second period scoring both goals in the half's first twnety minutes.

Seth C'deBaca struck first. After controlling a loose ball near midfield, C'deBaca went on a fifty yard run, beating two defenders before neatly placing a ball past the Monarch's goaltender.

Georgetown extended their lead to 2-0 minutes later. C'deBaca was again in the middle of the action connecting on a pass with Sean Bellomy near the midfield. Bellomy played a give-and-go with Chandler Diggs and Bellomy found the back of the net with a sharp angle shot.

The Hoyas threatened with a few more quality scoring opportunities over the final 20 minutes prior to final buzzer sounding.

Mark Wilber and Matthew Brutto split halves in goal and the back four of Len Coleman, Alex Verdi, Mark Zeman and Mostafa Ebrahimnejad did a fine job producing another shutout, limiting Old Dominion to very few clear cut chances on the day.

The 2-0 victory gives the Hoyas a 5-1-1 overall record this spring with 13 goals scored and just two goals allowed.

Following the ODU match, a very entertaining 7 v 7 match featured the current Hoyas against former GU stars Billy Bednarz, Dan Helfrich, Tim Convey, Kevin Sindelar, Daniel Grasso, Mike Glaccum and Joe Devine in an Alumni Game. Former head coach Keith Tabatznik made an appearance on the sideline to inspire the "old timers".
