Matthew Brutto named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Washington, D.C. ,,Ÿ Georgetown University freshman goalkeeper Matthew Brutto (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon as announced by the league office.

Brutto, replaced injured senior starter Joe Devine, and posted seven saves in his first collegiate start to help the Hoyas snap a four-game slide with a 1-0 win at Louisville. Louisville came into the game ranked second in the league and scoring and had seven corner kicks in the first half. Brutto made three first half saves and organized the defense nicely.

Brutto, who becomes the first Hoya to earn weekly recognition this season, shut out Louisville on Sunday after the Cardinals had come into the game ranked second in the league in scoring.

The Hoyas went 1-1 last week, losing 2-1 at Cincinnati on Friday night before GU snapped a four-game slide with a 1-0 win at Louisville.

Georgetown had not scored a goal in almost four games coming into the weekend and scored twice as the team went 1-1.

The Hoyas wrapped up a season-long seven-game road trip and now play seven home games and four road games over the final six weeks of the season.

Freshman midfielder Ibukun Otegbeye (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park) made his first career start on Sunday and handed out an assist in the win over Louisville.
