Georgetown Men's Soccer Hits Road to Take on No. 19/21 West Virginia Saturday Night

Oct. 12, 2007

Washington, D.C. - After a four-game homestand, the Georgetown University men's soccer team travels to Morgantown, W. Va. for a BIG EAST Conference match against No. 19/21 West Virginia on Saturday, October 13. Kickoff at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set for 7 p.m.

Georgetown has a 3-8-0 overall record and the Hoyas stand in sixth place in the BIG EAST's Blue Division with six points. West Virginia boasts a 7-4-0 overall with a 3-3-0 record in conference action. The Hoyas are just three points behind the Mountaineers in the Blue Division standings.

Junior Corey Zeller (Toms River, N.J./Toms River) netted both of the Hoyas goals in the 2-0 win over Providence last weekend. The midfielder now leads the team with three goals and six points. Zeller is now 2-3 on penalty kick opportunities this season.

Freshman goalkeeper Matthew Brutto (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) recorded his second shutout of the season against Providence and he now has two shutouts in four career starts. Four of his starts have come in the last five games.

The Hoyas hold an 8-3 advantage in the all-time series vs. the Mountaineers although WVU has won the last two contests.

WVU has defeated two top 10 teams (then-No. 6 Maryland on Sept. 7, and then-No. 5 Duke on Sept. 15) on the road this season. WVU is the only team in the league that is undefeated against ranked non-conference opponents.

Mountaineer red-shirt freshman Zach Johnson has posted three straight shutouts and leads the league with a .904 save percentage.
