Georgetown Men's Soccer Team Looks to Win Third Straight when Hoyas Travel to College Park Tuesday Night

Oct. 22, 2007

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's soccer team will look to win its third consecutive game on Tuesday night, October 23 when the Hoyas make the 11-mile trip north to take on the Terrapins of the University of Maryland. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. on Ludwig Field. Live stats will be available at www.guhoyas.com.

Freshman Chandler Diggs (Coppell, Texas, Coppell) tallied five points last week, scoring two goals to go along with an assist and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Monday. Diggs had a goal and assist in GU's win over cross-town rival American, handing out an assist on the Hoyas' game-tying goal just after halftime before heading in the game-winner in the 95th minute. In the win at Marquette, Diggs opened the scoring with a blast from 12 yards out. It marked the first time this season a Georgetown played scored in consecutive games. Diggs is tied for the team lead with three goals and leads the squad with seven points.

Georgetown won consecutive games for the first time all season with wins over American and at Marquette last week. The Hoyas scored two goals in both of the victories.

After scoring just three goals through the season's first nine games, Georgetown has now scored four goals in its last two matches and six goals in its last five games.

Freshman Seth C'deBaca (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia Prep) dished out two assists in the win at American. It marked the first time this season a GU player handed out multiple assists.

Georgetown freshman Matthew Brutto (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) made four saves at Marquette to record his third shutout in six starts.

The Hoyas came from behind in the win over AU, marking the first time this season GU rallied to win.

Maryland has a 6-4-4 overall record but is unbeaten (3-0-3) in its last six matches. The Terps are 5-1-3 at home on Ludwig Field this season.

Sophomore Drew Yates leads the Terps with seven goals and 15 points. Freshman goalkeeper Thorne Holder has started in nine games, posting two shutouts and making 17 saves. Maryland is currently in seventh place in the nine-team Atlantic Coast Conference standings.
