WASHINGTON, D.C. - Senior Etienne Paris (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) clinched the Georgetown University men's tennis team's (9-10, 2-2 BIG EAST) seventh consecutive win, taking Brett Tobin, 6-2 in the first set before Tobin retired down 5-1 in the second. The victory is Paris' fourth of the season, as he remains undefeated in singles play. The Hoyas got off to a quick start with strong play from its three doubles tandems. Senior Jeffrey Schnell (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) and junior Adam Gross (Quogue, N.Y./Westhampton) defeated Dimitri Chimeraki and Brian Maher, 8-2 in the top doubles match. Junior Kevin Walsh (Bernardsville, N.J./Delbarton) and sophomore David Tillem squeaked by the Wildcats' No. 2 pair, 9-8(2), while senior Ted Tywang (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell Academy) and sophomore Anthony Tan (Jakarta, Indonesia/Anglo-Chinese Junior College) quickly defeated Villanova's third pair, 8-1. Junior Kenneth Wong (Repulse Bay, Hong Kong/St. Paul's [N.H.]) continued the blue and gray's roll into singles play, taking out David Shaheen, 6-3, 6-1 to give the Hoyas a 2-0 lead. Schnell picked up where he left off against George Washington, defeating Chimeraki in the No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 6-2, before Paris clinched the match in two sets.
