Georgetown Women's Basketball Team Hosts No. 17 Notre Dame on Saturday Afternoon

Game Notes

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's basketball team (10-6, 0-3 BE) plays the middle game of a three-game homestand as the Hoyas host No. 17 Notre Dame (14-3, 2-1 BE) Saturday, January 19 inside McDonough Arena. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. The game is being televised by the BIG EAST Regional Television Network with Beth Mowins and Charlene Curtis on the call.

Live audio and live stats will be available via www.guhoyas.com with Chuck Timanus and Dana Simonelli calling the action.

Hoyas in the Series vs. Notre Dame ... Notre Dame leads the all-time series, 21-2 and the Irish has won four straight. The Hoyas are 1-8 here in McDonough Arena.

Fast Breaks ... The Hoyas finished non-league play shooting 45 percent from the floor while allowing just 52.9 points per game. Through the first three BIG EAST games, though, Georgetown has struggled from the floor shooting 33.8 percent from the floor while yielding 61.0 points per game.

-- The Hoyas lost their first home game of the season on Tuesday to No. 5 Rutgers. GU started 6-0 at home for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign.

-- It is the first time that fourth-year head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy has started 0-3 in BIG EAST action.

-- Georgetown ranks fourth in the BIG EAST allowing 54.4 points per game. The Hoyas have held seven opponents to under 53 points.
 

 

-- Georgetown is 10-0 when they hold the lead with five minutes to go.

-- GU has had a higher field goal percentage than its opponent in 12 of the 16 games this season. Georgetown has also shot 50 percent or better in a half on 11 different occasions and finished a game shooting over 50 percent three times.

-- Senior co-captain and leading scorer Kieraah Marlow connected on her 500th career field goal vs. Brown. She's made 45.6 percent of the field goals over her career (511-1120). She became the seventh member of the Hoya program to knock down at least 500 FG's.

-- The Hoyas were given some terrific news during the second week of November. Georgetown's recruiting class was ranked sixth in the nation by Mike Flynn's Blue Star Report and 18th nationally by HoopGurlz.com. It marks Coach Flournoy's first top 10 recruiting class.

Shanice Not Suffering from Sophomore Jinx ... Sophomore guard Shanice Fuller started at point guard in every game last season as a freshman. Fuller finished her rookie campaign averaging 5.0 points to go along with 83 assists and 95 turnovers.

As a sophomore this season, Fuller ranks sixth in the BIG EAST with 4.06 assists per game and she has compiled 40 assists vs. just 15 turnovers in the last eight games. The Chesapeake, Va. native compiled 65 assists already this season despite coming off the bench in all but two games. Fuller ranks 30th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (4.1 apg vs 2.1 TO/g).

Scouting Notre Dame ... Notre Dame (14-3, 2-1 BE) is currently ranked 17th in the AP poll and 15th in the USA Today/ESPN poll.

The Irish have three players averaging double-figure points, Charel Allen (14.3 ppg), Ashley Barlow (12.1 ppg) and Lindsay Schrader (10.3 ppg).

Notre Dame had a six-game road winning streak snapped at No. 14 West Virginia on Jan. 13.
