April 15, 2008 Washington, D.C. - The No. 9 Georgetown University women's lacrosse team (9-4) will make the 11 mile trip north to take on the third-ranked Maryland Terrapins (12-1) on Wednesday night at the Terps' Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. The first draw control is set for 8 p.m. as CBS College Sports Network will be televising the game live with Jason Knapp and Sheehan Stanwick Burch calling the action. Georgetown is coming off a 10-8 loss to No. 10 Notre Dame on Saturday. It marked the first home loss for the Hoyas (5-1). The Irish are now responsible for three of the Hoyas' five all-time losses to BIG EAST opponents. Georgetown trailed 5-1 to the Irish at halftime. It was just the fourth time that GU trailed at halftime this season. The Hoyas matched a season-high with 22 ground balls with Ashby Kaestner leading the way with four. Bridget Noon and Jordy Kirr scooped three GB's apiece. GU outshot Notre Dame, 20-9 in the second but only scored on seven of those shots. News & Notes ... -- The Hoyas are 14-3 under fourth-year head coach Ricky Fried in games following a loss. -- Freshman Jordy Kirr dished out another assist in the loss vs. Notre Dame. Kirr's 22 assists continues to lead the nation's freshmen. The 22 assists is the 13th best single-season mark in Georgetown history with at least four games remaining on the schedule. -- Ashby Kaestner dished out two assists in Saturday's loss. Kaestner now has recorded a point in 15 straight games dating back to last season.
-- Freshman Allie Hubschmann netted a career-high two goals in the loss to the Irish on Saturday. Hubschmann came off the bench and tallied two second half scores when Georgetown was make their comeback bid. -- Junior Megan Bloomer earned on a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after scoring four goals last week. Bloomer notched two markers in the comeback win over No. 4 Virginia, including the game winner with 27 seconds left and two more in the loss to No. 10 Notre Dame. Bloomer ranks fourth on the team with 12 goals this season. -- Sophomore netminder Caitlin Formby tallied 10 saves in Saturday's game. It was the sixth time this season that the Towson native made double-figure saves. She recorded a career-high 12 saves vs. William & Mary and then again vs. Virginia. Series with Maryland ... The schools have met during every season since 1995. Maryland leads the all-time series 15-4 but the Hoyas have won three of the last four meetings. GU is 3-6 in nine games in College Park. Georgetown and Maryland have met in the postseason in the NCAA Tournament during the 2000, 2001 and 2004 seasons. UM was victorious in the NCAA Quarters, 7-6 in overtime in 2000. Maryland topped Georgetown 14-13 in overtime in 2001 in the NCAA title game. Georgetown toppled the Terps, 14-10 in the NCAA Quarters in 2004. Scouting Maryland ...
