Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's soccer team defeated No. 24 Marquette this afternoon in Milwaukee, Wis., 3-1. Sophomore Toni Marie Hudson (Coral Springs, Fla./Stoneman Douglas) scored two goals, senior Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) added a goal and an assist and freshman Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) chipped in with two helpers of her own as the Hoyas improved to 9-3-0, 2-2-0 in the BIG EAST. The loss dropped Marquette's record on the season to 10-2-1, 3-2-0 in the conference. Marquette took the first five shots of the game as they came out aggressively against the Hoyas. However, GU got on the board in the 22nd minute when Jordan set up Hudson for the first goal of the game. Entering the second half holding a one-goal lead, Jordan would then score her fourth goal of the season to provide the Hoyas a little breathing room in the 53rd minute. Three minutes later, Georgetown seemingly put the game away when Hudson drilled her second goal of the game off an assist from Wells. Goalkeeper Jackie DesJardin (Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) made a season-high six saves in net for the Hoyas. The Hoyas' next game will be Friday, October 12 at Notre Dame. The contest is scheduled for a 7:30 start at Alumni Field.
