Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's soccer team (11-5-0, 4-4-0 BIG EAST) will travel to Tampa, Fla. for a Tuesday night game against the University of South Florida (4-7-2, 3-4-1 BE). The 7 p.m. contest from the USF Soccer Stadium is a makeup of the game played on October 5 that ended prematurely due to torrential downpours and lightning. That game was called two seconds prior to the 70-minute mark, which would have made the contest official. Heading into the final week of BIG EAST regular season play, the Hoyas are being led in points by freshman Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) with 17. Her team-leading seven assists is the third-highest single season total in Hoya history. This past weekend Wells accumulated six points on two goals and two assists and earned the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week. Her outstanding weekend made Wells the first Hoya to earn a weekly award since the 2005 season. One of the players tied with Wells on the all-time single season assists list is Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), who dished out seven in 2005. Jordan is also currently tied with Wells for the team lead in goals with five. For her career, Jordan is now ranked in the top-10 all-time in both points and assists at Georgetown, along with being tied for third place all-time in assists. Another Hoya is currently trying to move up the charts as senior defender Karen Waskewich is ranked fifth all-time in Georgetown history with 16 assists. This game will once again mark the first meeting between the Hoyas and the Bulls. South Florida joined the BIG EAST in 2005 and Georgetown hasn't met them since their introduction to the conference. The Bulls are coached by Denise Schlite-Brown, who is her first season at the helm after arriving from Virginia Commonwealth University. During her seven years at VCU, Schilte-Brown led the Rams to a 77-51-17 record, including back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference championships in 2004 and 2005 and a third-place finish in 2006.
The Bulls are led by senior Autumn Browning and junior Lindsay Brauer, who each have 10 points for USF. Browning has scored three goals and compiled four assists while Brauer has four goals and two helpers. Sophomore goalkeeper Mallori Lofton-Malachi has been in the net in all 13 games for the Bulls, recording four shutouts and making 60 saves. |
