Georgetown Women's Soccer Opens Final Weekend of Regular Season Play Against Cincinnati

Oct. 25, 2007

Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University women's soccer team (12-5-0, 5-4-0 BIG EAST) opens the final weekend of regular season play when they host the University of Cincinnati (6-8-2, 3-5-1 BE) on Friday afternoon. The pivotal conference matchup will be played at 3 p.m. on North Kehoe Field.

Heading into the final weekend of BIG EAST regular season play, the Hoyas are being led in points by freshman Ingrid Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) with 19. Her team-leading nine assists tie her for second all-time in that category for a single season. Sara Jordan (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) currently leads the team in goals with six and for her career, the senior midfielder is now ranked in the top-10 all-time in both points and goals at Georgetown, along with being tied for third place all-time in assists. Another Hoya is currently trying to move up the same chart as senior defender Karen Waskewich is ranked fifth all-time in Georgetown history with 16 assists.

These two teams have met twice before with Cincinnati earning a 1-0 win last season at Gettler Stadium. Cincinnati netted the game's lone tally in the 18th minute on a goal by Becky Imhoff off an assist by Lindsey Noteboom. In 2005, the Hoyas won a 4-0 contest on North Kehoe Field behind a combined shutout from senior Jade Higgins (Island Park, N.Y./West Hempstead) and junior Christina Rourke (Howell, N.J./Howell). Senior Elaina Filauro (Denville, N.J./Morris Knolls) scored a goal and Waskewich added an assist.

The Bearcats went 1-1-0 last week, including a 3-0 win over USF on October 19 and a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Marquette on October 21. The Bearcats are unbeaten in their last three matches (2-0-1), their longest unbeaten streak since opening the 2006 season with a 2-0-1 mark. Sophomore Erin MacDonald leads the Bearcats with seven goals, seven assists and 21 points. Last season, Imhoff was the team leader with four goals and eight assists. MacDonald has scored three goals in the last two matches, while junior Kristin May has scored three goals and added in three assists in the last four matches. Goalkeeper Andrea Kaminski and MacDonald were named to the Soccer Buzz Magazine Elite Team of the Week after their performances last weekend. And Kaminski was also awarded the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week.
