Georgetown's Ingrid Wells Named to NSCAA/adidas NCAA Women's Division I All-America Second Team, All-Mid Atlantic First Team

Dec. 17, 2007

Washington, D.C. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America named Georgetown University women' soccer freshman Ingird Wells (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) to the 2007 NSCAA/adidas NCAA Women's Division I All-America Second Team. This came after Wells had also been selected to the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division I Women's All-Mid-Atlantic Region Team. The freshman midfielder helped lead the Hoyas to their best season ever and first NCAA Tournament berth, and now owns the distinction of being the first Hoya women's soccer player to be named as an All-American.

The BIG EAST Conference Rookie of the Year, First Team All-BIG EAST selection, and SoccerBuzz Magazine National Freshman of the Year finalist, Wells finished tied for eighth nationally in assists per game, averaging 0.59 per contest. This season, Wells dished out 13 assists, which tied her with Nicole DePalma for the GU single-season record. DePalma set the record in 2002, the same year she also set the single-game record with five assists against Howard. In a 5-0 win over Cincinnati, Wells recorded a single game, season-high four assists. The freshman finished with 25 points, leaving her one point behind the single-season record of 26, set by Jessie Beers-Altman in 2002.

The NSCAA names six All-Region teams from the Central, Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Southeast and West. The Mid-Atlantic team consisted of Meghan Walker, Danielle Collins and Claire Zimmeck from William and Mary, Greer Barnes, Amanda Cicchini and Ashley Banks from West Virginia, Kim Germain and Annie Lowry from James Madison, Nikki Krzysik and Becky Sauerbrunn from Virginia, and Wells. Wells was the only freshman on the team.
